Description
Still life, or direct observation, is the practice of drawing or painting subjects from real life, rather than using reference photos or the artists imagination. Mastering direct observation in art is essential for the creation of a superior art portfolio. Strong college portfolios should include several still life pieces. In this class, students will learn how to draw and paint from the observation of a number of different still life set ups. As part of the process they will be introduced to composition, the elements of art, basic and advanced drawing skills and painting techniques. Mediums: Graphite pencil, colored pencil, acrylics, watercolor, oils and acrylics.
